The best year

Wow! 2011 has already come and gone, and ohhh what an amazing year it was. Chris and I both agree that it was by far the best year of our lives.

Recap:

Our wedding day, the most perfect day of my life so far

We went on our honeymoon to Mexico

We moved in together and started our new life.
I learned to cook and be a wife, which is what I always dreamed of doing but (obviously) had no experience in, turns out, it's not too hard. I love it!

March
Grandpa Park passed away.
We were so sad to say goodbye but we were able to celebrate his great life. He was fortunate to not have to suffer nearly as much as others who have lived with his disease. We miss and love you Grandpa.

Chris started getting accepted to different law schools around the country. I started preparing myself for some big changes.

April
Ty received his mission call to Orlando

May
Started training for my first Olympic triathlon

June
Went to Lake Powell

July
Went to Wyoming for our nephew Gideon's blessing

Ran my very first full length triathlon

Threw a shower for my BFF Shawna

August
Chris got accepted to the University of Utah, I've never been so relieved about anything in my whole entire LIFE!
Chris also started school. It has been a big challenge but he loves it. He has made some great friends and is enjoying all of the new material he is learning.

Found out that our baby is a GIRL!

It's been SUCH a good year! We are sad to see 2011 go, but we're SO excited to see what 2012 brings. The 1st year of law school complete, our sweet baby, Ryan coming home from his mission, it's going to be a great year!

FYI

As most of you know, I have a baby blog.
I liked having it private but there were SO many people who had to ask me several times to send them an invite more than once because the invitation expired...ANYWAY...baby blog is now public.

Just a heads up, I pretty much say whatever is going on with my body, so sometimes it's a little TOO MUCH INFORMATION. You have been warned.

It's a...

WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR OUR LITTLE VIVIEN!

She is already the CUTEST thing I have ever seen in my life.

She kept her legs crossed for almost an HOUR, we had to do all sorts of poking, twisting, and position changing. Finally, it was drinking some ice water that made her uncross those cute little legs to give us a quick peak at her girl parts.

We really enjoyed going to Fetal Foto, I'm SO glad we decided to go. The girl was so nice and patient. We were able to see our little girl for a full hour! We got all sorts of pictures and the DVD of the whole thing, aww it was SO perfect! We love our little V so much already.

As I type, Chris is looking up little baby girl Yankee's outfits, he is going to just be the cutest little dad ever. He broke the streak in his family, every one of his bros had a boy first. That little rebel, Chris :) AH we are just so excited!

Our last 1st

2 years ago today, I had my very last first kiss! Wow, how time flies!! Chris and I agree, these have been -BY FAR- the best 2 years of our lives!

On November 13, 2009, we went downtown, walked around temple square, ate at California Pizza Kitchen, then saw a movie. Chris walked me to my front door and there was both of our last first kisses :)

Oh how I love my Chris! He is the greatest thing to ever happen to me. He is so kind, helpful, understanding, hilarious, smart, fun, my list goes on and on. I love him more each day. Being married to the greatest man in the world sure has spoiled me! I love Chris so much, he is an amazing person. Thanks for making me the luckiest girl in the whole world Christopher! 2 down, forever to go!

Here's a couple pictures from 2009

Weird obsession

So, I kind of have this weird Harry Potter obsession. I'm NOT exaggerating when I say that I have probably read books 4, 6, and 7 more than anyone on the planet Earth. No seriously. I have The Deathly Hollows on my iPod, and last year when I was running the Halloween Half Marathon, I wanted to change my music up, so I went to my "top 25 most played list" and every single track was a chapter from Harry...Umm I have listened to each chapter more than any SONG. I just love knowing what's going to happen, plus I think J.K.Rowling is a GENIUS!

So anyway...now that you all know of my weird obsession, I think I need to branch out a bit (or a lot). Right now I'm reading The Death Cure, the 3rd book in The Maze Runner trilogy, which by the way, is a FANTASTIC series if you like The Hunger Games. It's a very unique story, it is very easy to read, and almost impossible to put down. Plus, the author is from Utah! I highly recommend reading them.

Chris is so busy with all of his law school reading that he can't read much with me anymore, so I'm trying to find some books that I will enjoy! So, now it's YOUR turn! Please send me some suggestions on good reads! You can text me, email me, write me a comment here or on facebook! Thank you so much!

PS- Thanks for all the love and support everyone has shown us with the baby, we really appreciate it!

Our big news!

Baby Higley:
Due May 2012
We are so happy to finally tell the world about our little bean!
If you'd like to follow our baby blog, send your email to chrisandcamihigley@gmail.com and I'd be happy to add you to our list!

Chris and I can't WAIT to be parents! We found out that I am pregnant on September 16th. Our baby was very planned...with the absolute PERFECT timing! Chris will finish his 1st year of law school/finals at the beginning of May, baby is due May 29th :)

We went to the doctor today, everything is going perfectly. Perfect size, great heart beat, and moving like crazy! We took the suggestions of a lot of other pregnant girls and went with Dr. England at Riverton Hospital, we already really like him.

I have been wanting to put this out there for so long, so here it is.
If our baby is a boy, his name will be
Jack Christopher Higley
If our baby is a girl, her name will be
Vivien [Abigail or Lila] Higley

We are so happy and, of course, a bit nervous. A BABY!

Flashback

This past weekend, Chris and I went and saw the new Footloose with my parents and Cole. It was pretty dang raunchy for a PG-13, the show was fine but all the vulgar language and themes just made me like it a lot less. But anyway, that's not why I'm writing this post today.

We were sitting on the back row of the theatre, right in front of us were these [maybe] 14 or 15 year old girls. They were singing, dancing, and sighing over the boys in the movie. It really made me laugh, and it took me back to my high school days....

I thought everything was THE biggest deal. If something didn't go my way, it was the END of the world. I was very dramatic and probably really loud/annoying/obnoxious! Like every high schooler, I thought I knew everything. I had a love/hate relationship with those high school times.

At the time, I thought that high school would be the greatest days of my life, I didn't think it could possibly get any better than being a Miner...

Ohhh how I was wrong. I had many great and fun times during those years. But as of right now, THIS is the time of my life. I have THE GREATEST husband in the world. I really enjoy my job. I get along with my family (which I definitely couldn't say in high school). My life is 100% drama-free. What could be better? I guess we'll see what the future brings.

I'm grateful for all of my experiences so far, they have made me the person that I am today. I'm so glad that everything in my life has lead me to the person I am and the life that I enjoy today.

Farewell

It's been so LONG, I'm sorry I have been a blog slacker! It seems like a whole lot of nothing AND a ton of stuff has been happening...I don't know how that's possible.

Yesterday, we dropped our Ty off at the MTC. It was definitely bitter-sweet. He received his mission call 5 months ago, he was SO ready to go, but I'm selfish and didn't want him to go yet. My dad says, "It's good that he's gone, we're that much closer to getting him back." True that, dad.

Tuesday, Ty was set-apart as an Elder. It was a very emotional and spiritual night. President Tate is a very humble, in-tune man and he gave Ty a very nice and pretty long blessing. I cried harder this night than I did when we said goodbye.

Sunday was Ty's farewell. He prepared for hours and hours. I don't remember the last time he gave a talk in Sacrament, so I was excited to hear his speaking skills. He did an AMAZING job! I was so proud of him. His topic was The Book of Mormon: Fact or Fiction. I promise you, if I didn't believe in the Book of Mormon before that, I would have after hearing his talk. WOW that kid is going to make an AMAZING missionary!

I'm so proud of Ty for making the decision and being worthy to serve a mission. The people of Orlando are SO lucky. I'm jealous of them. He is such a great example to me. Before he left, Ty and his friends would go to the temple every week (if not more), he has always just been a genuinely GOOD person. I hope my future kids are like him (and Chris...basically the same person haha!)

  • Chris is loving school and is doing really well, he is becoming such a smarty pants!
  • I am officially EMD trained, now I can give a limited amount of medical instruction over the phone. And I'm loving my job, which is good since I'm the only one working now that school has started.
  • Travis and Shawna's wedding is NEXT WEEK! I'm making treats and cupcakes for the reception, my mom is making the food.
  • There are SO many prego people lately, congrats everyone, how exciting!
That's about it, I told you that nothing too exciting has been happening these days! Thanks for reading! XO

Law School Prep Week

To celebrate the last week before law school, Chris and I decided to head up to Park City on Tuesday. We went school shopping for Chris, bought him a couple pairs of shorts and a few shirts.
We went to dinner at a place called Main Street Pizza and Noodles, delicous!
We stayed at a super fancy hotel called The Waldorf Astoria. It was the nicest hotel either of us had ever stayed. Our room had 2 bathrooms, a huge kitchen, 3 TVs, and the comfiest bed EVER! At breakfast, the people sitting at the table next to us were talking about buying and selling hotels....let me just tell you, we felt out of place and under-dressed. Funny story: we dumped an entire bottle of hotel shower gel in the tub, then we turned the jets on...it was like a movie, there were bubbles EVERYWHERE! The tub was about 1/3 water and 4/3 bubbles (yes, 4/3...because the bubbles were WAY over the top! HAHA!)
It was so nice to stay up late and actually sleep in. We had so much fun pretending that we were rich for the night haha! It was seriously the greatest 2 days ever.

To top the fabulousness off, I came home from work the other day to find flowers and a sweet note from Christopher. He is the best husband in the whole world.

I can't believe Chris is actually starting school in 2 days! It always seemed so far away and now it's HERE! I'm proud of Chris, I know that he will do so well in school. It's going to be so much work but I know he will put all that he has into it. We purchased all of his books (goodbye hard earned money) and a Mac Book Pro (goodbye even more money), which made Chris SO excited to actually start! I'm SO excited too! GOOD LUCK CHRIS!
