The dangerous bouquet toss

When I posted my wedding pictures, I decided to save these for their very own post. I think this series of photos is absolutely hilarious. Courtney is the most determined person that has ever stepped foot in Heritage Gardens.

Have you ever seen such determination in a bride's maid?
Me neither.
Haha!

Good one Court! Nice catch!

PS: I biked 20 miles in 1 hour and 4 minutes today.
I'm documenting my miles via blog to motivate myself.

Take it!

 TAKE IT, BIKE!!
Take it, take it, take it!
17.32 MPH = happy Cami

As much as I love flooding, hanging out with the gym folk, and sitting on the stationary bike, I think I'd prefer some SUN! Enough with the rain already! I'm so excited to take the road bike out!

Training is going swimmingly (no pun intended). I have been running faster, biking further, and... swimming (definitely my weakest area). Chris has been very supportive with all of it. Even though training takes away a little bit of our time together, I don't think he minds, more Military Chanel for him! The best motivation is the fact that Chris is home waiting for me, so the sooner I get finished with my workout, the sooner I get to be with him.

Let me know if you'd like to run or bike with me! Not swim, I prefer to do that alone because I kind of suck haha!

1 year ago today, my sweet Chris asked me to be his wife. WOW how the time has flown!

One day last May, Chris was supposed to be to my house to hang out at 1 o'clock. At 1:15, I started wondering where he was, so I called him.

Me: "Hey, where are you?"
Chris: "Uh...watching TV at home"
Me: "Oh...ok"
Chris: "I will be there in a while"

I was a little confused because Chris lived 45 minutes away from me, so he should have LEFT his house an hour before our phone call. Whatever. About 30 seconds later, I get a phone call from Chris.

Chris: "I lied to you!"
Me: "Oh! About what?"
Chris: "I'm not really at home watching TV, I'm at lunch with your dad asking him if I can marry you!"
Me: "Haha that's something that would be okay to lie about"
Chris: "I just felt too bad, I can't lie to you."

Aww one of the 923847938 reasons why I LOVE that boy. So, anyway, I knew the proposal was coming soon.

I had planned out a secret date for the two of us months before May, I was just waiting for it to get warm enough to actually do it. The plan was to go up Butterfield Canyon and have a picnic on top of the mountain. The weather man told us that May 17th would the first day that it would be warm enough for our secret date! So, we drive to the entrance of Butterfield Canyon, but it was closed. Plan: FOILED! We ended up just going over to Daybreak, laid our blanket next to the lake, and had a lovely spring picnic. We talked for a long time, then it happened.

Chris: "Cami, I have a confession....I spent some money."
Me: "Okay, what did you buy?"
Chris: "Well, I really appreciate you planning out fun dates like this for us, so I made you a Build-A-Bear. Feel it's package...it's huge!"

So, I felt its pants and there was a big lump, I thought it was the little voice box (yep, still clueless at this point). Then Chris put his hand down the bear's shorts, pulls out a ring box, and got on his knee. I don't remember a thing that he said, I only remember being extremely surprised and incredibly happy!
To celebrate our "one year ago we got engaged" day, we had a picnic in our living room. We wanted to go to Daybreak, but since it SNOWED today, we figured it wouldn't be too enjoyable.

What a GREAT year it's been. Chris and I both agree that it has been the best year of our lives. I fall more and more in love with Christopher as each day passes. I am the luckiest.

Just a thought

I must vent via blog...just for a minute.

I just need to announce to the world how much I dislike improper English. In school, they pound rules into your head, but some of them are WRONG.

Example:
It's not "me and ___", it's "___ and I"
Okay, true in most cases. But not all cases.

Can Chris and I watch the movie with you?
CORRECT

Come watch the movie with Chris and I.
INCORRECT

The correct way to say that would be:
Come watch the movie with Chris and me.

But Cami, how can you tell?
Take the other person's name (in this case, it's Chris) out of the sentence. However you'd say it without that other name, is how you decide whether it's "me" or "I"

Come watch the movie with me.
OR
Come watch the movie with I.
You decide which one sounds better...

Phew...thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
Today I started my triathlon training! I began with a lovely 13.1 mile bike ride in 44 minutes, I'm pretty happy about it. A 3 mile run tomorrow and .5 mile swim on Wednesday are what I have to look forward to next.

Craft of the week

This week, my mama and I made this beautiful wreath! It took hours and hours to finish, but it was surprisingly easy to make! It's made entirely from book pages, hot glue, and a styrofoam wreath!

We used all of Wicked and half of Harry Potter 6, don't worry, we had 2 copies of Harry...just in case!

LOVE IT!

I'm throwing Shawna a wedding shower in July, I have started making some decorations and planning for food (I know, it's 2 months away, but I'm super excited about it!). Here is a sample of what I have made so far.

I have all sorts of fun ideas for the shower, I hope Shawna will like it all! I was inspired to do a themed shower from hostessblog.com ... I have been spending way too much time on that website lately. Check it out and I promise you'll want to have a party! Click HERE to check it out!

Thanks for reading! XO!

Blog for my mama

Since yesterday was Mother's Day, I need to dedicate a blog all to my mom. She is the most amazing person in the whole entire world.

Here is a list of 10 reasons why:
  • She is SO supportive of everything I do. She is always there for me, whether it's my wedding, cheer tryouts, party planning, moving, drama, running a marathon with me, good times, bad times, she is there to support me, help me, and be right there for me.
  • She is an amazing cook. She cooks every night and it is amazing. ALWAYS.
  • She would do anything for her children. She is the busiest person I know and she doesn't even have a "job"...she is always doing things for us. Helping with homework, making crafts, volunteering at school, running errands for US, the list goes on and on.
  • She is so easy to talk to and be around. I could sit and talk with her all day long and never ever get bored.
  • She is so dedicated to everything she does. She works out everyday without fail, she goes to the temple every single Friday, she cooks every night. She is a great example.
  • She put up with me through my ridiculous teenage years...enough said. (I hope our future teenagers are like Chris, NOT me)
  • She is so giving. Everything she does is for other people. She feeds the missionaries at least 3 times a week. She is always thinking of others, never of herself.
  • She is very spiritual. She has countless books on improving herself spiritually. She never skips church. She reads the scriptures daily. She is a great example.
  • She is good at EVERYTHING! Even the most simple things she can do better than anyone...like putting plastic wrap on pans, she has the best looking yard in the neighborhood, she's so good at cleaning, cooking, running, socializing with anyone, and I could go on and on about everything she excels at.
  • She makes me want to be a better person. I have A LOT to live up to. She's the best mom in the whole entire world, ask anyone.
I love you mama!

Cinco de Mayo miracle

Chris and I had the best Cinco de Mayo ever! We got home from work, went on a great run in the warm sun, rode a scooter for a while, came home and made some Mexican food. We ate steak fajitas and lime tortilla chips. Yum! Afterwards, we sat down to watch the Prison Break episode I had downloaded on my lap top. We click play, hear the regular music, and then...it was all is SPANISH. Without missing a beat, Chris looks at me and says, "It's a Cinco de Mayo MIRACLE!" We died laughing for like 10 minutes and then downloaded it in English. OH MAN, I love my husband!
Last Saturday, we had a friend game/dessert night at our house. Chris and I wanted to be creative with our dessert. This is what we decided to do:
Cut bananas into 3 or 4 chunks

Hollow the bananas out

Peel the bananas and dip them in chocolate

Let them harden

Fill them with icecream

BITE SIZED BANANA SPLITS!!
They were delish!

I have been trying to be crafty lately, we don't have many home decorations, and I don't want to buy any before we have our own place, so I have decided to make some! Here is my first craft, the flowers were much easier to make than I expected, and they are SO cute!
Mama and I are in the middle of making an AMAZING creation, you'll just have to wait and see...we should be finished this week.

So, I LOVE making new meals, tonight we tried something very new...
Mini lasagna!
With regular lasagna, I feel that there is always a TON left over, I didn't want to waste so much food, plus I love everything mini.
I made them with wonton wrappers, the usual lasagna fillings, and a muffin pan. They were really fun to make and tasted really good! I think Chris ate 5!

Maybe I need to just make a food blog...?

"If you worry about what might be, and wonder what might have been, you will ignore what is."

Lately I have been really trying to live in the present. I have always been really bad at it. It seems like I'm always looking forward to something in the future:

I can't wait to be engaged
I can't wait to be married
I can't wait to get to law school
I can't wait to have kids
I can't wait to have a house
Etc. Etc. Etc.

I feel that living this way is a good way to miss out on life. Of course we need to plan for the future, but for now, I'm enjoying life exactly as it is.

I love all the time I get with my husband
I love that we're able to save money right now
I love this weather
I love our basement apartment
I love the mystery of not knowing what life has in store for us
I love our cute simple cars
I love being so close to my family

Seize from every moment its unique novelty, and do not prepare your joys.  ~AndrĂ© Gide

Life couldn't be better!
