Dream big

The other day I had this way great dream...I was participating in a triathlon...and I got FIRST PLACE! I remember thinking (while I was still dreaming), "Wow! ME?! What the?" because I'm not much of a race "winner", I'm more of a "finisher" haha!

This left me REALLY wanting to do a triathlon. I have a spot reserved to run (...and swim...and bike) the 2011 Spudman on July 30th...but if we move to Texas, that will probably be the weekend we leave. I'm going to start training, so just in case we're still here, I can be a triathlete again!

Another great weekend

This weekend, Chris and I went down to Mesquite to spend some time with Chris' parents. It was so nice and relaxing. I have gotten way too spoiled with these 2 weekends off in a row!

We read/napped in a hammock

Chris is reading:

 Cami is reading:

I wanted to finish the book before the movie came out, but that didn't happen. Since the New Year, Chris has had a goal to read one book per month, he has been successful with this goal. He decided to do this because there will be a lot of reading that comes with law school, so he is trying to get in the habit.

We had a fun Easter egg hunt with our niece and nephews
[Boston. Grace. Taft.]
This isn't all of the nieces and nephews, these are just Andy and Cammi's kids. I wish we lived closer to them, St. George is TOO far!

We relaxed
We watched this super old school movie called Road To Rio. It had Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in it. Gotta love the black and white days.

We went camping
We wanted to go to Snow Canyon but it was full...of course, every time we have tried camping, the campground we go to is full. So we went to this place called Gunlock, it was fun! It rained really hard ALL night, but we stayed warm and dry!

For Easter, I bought Chris the 1st season of Breaking Bad, I don't know anything about it but everyone says it's really good, and Chris always likes getting new TV series' on DVD. We are in the middle of Prison Break season 2, so Breaking Bad will have to wait for a while!

My parents gave each of us a gift certificate to Massage Envy, I'M SO STOKED, I've never had a real massage before. We are excited to go! We also got about 10 lbs of candy...NO JOKE. What the heck?! We don't need this in our house!

I was in charge of FHE last night. In lei of Easter, we each wrote down 10 attributes of Christ, then we had to find scriptures that illustrated each attribute. It was really nice. I'm grateful for our Savior and everything he did/does for us. Life is so much easier with the Atonement and the Gospel, we're so blessed to know the truth. How empty would life be without it.

It was our 3 month anniversary yesterday! Can you believe how FAST time FLIES! It really has been the greatest 3 months of my life, it just keeps getting better and better. I love Chris more than anything, he is the best husband EVER. We definitely didn't do anything special, we ate chicken wraps and pineapple for dinner. FANCY, I know, plus I forgot a key ingredient...lettuce. Oh well!

Well anyway, this was a long and random blog post! Thanks for reading, if you even made it this far! XO

MISSION CALL!!

I know that this is like my 3rd post of the week, but this is the most important one yet!
Yesterday I woke up and I was super nervous! Why? Because later that evening my brother Tyler would be opening his mission call. Chris and I both had to work until 7, and that was when friends and family were supposed to gather at my parent’s house. We both hurried over, everyone had been waiting on the Higley’s! There were SO many people there to support Ty, which made me very happy. Everyone pinned a flag of their guesses on the map. I guessed Italy and Georgia (yes, I cheated and went with 2 instead of 1) and Chris picked Costa Rica.
Ty opening his call
Reading the call.
This was about the time when I broke down in tears.

Elder Park has been called to serve in the Florida Orlando mission! He leaves September 14, 2011!!

Mama and Ty
Our future missionary!

I am so excited for him! What a great place to serve the Lord. He is SUCH an amazing person. He will be the best missionary Florida has ever seen. I'm so proud of Ty, he is such a good example to everyone around him. The people in Orlando will be so blessed to meet him.

I'm going to miss him so much! My poor mom, 2 missionaries out at the same time. How great are my brothers to go out and spread the Gospel?! Wow, I'm proud of them!

My cute friends came to support!
Who doesn't love a good post-cry pic?

ORLANDO!

Tyler will live in the SAME CITY as my BFF Harry P!

ORLANDO!!!
I'm just SO excited for him!
Congrats Ty!

Best weekend. Ever.

As I mentioned a few days ago, I unexpectedly got the whole past weekend off of work. We had planned to go down to Mesquite to visit Chris's parents but they ended up coming up here for a funeral for a friend of theirs. SO, that meant Chris and I got the WHOLE weekend together!

Friday:
After work, we went to the park near our house and went for a nice long run. I LOVE running with Chris, best workout partner ever! After getting ready, we made cake balls and stayed up late watching Harry Potter 7. Late = 11!

Saturday:
Chris woke me up at 4:30 AM, he couldn't sleep, so we stayed awake and talked for a long time, then finally dozed back off. Next thing we knew, we were waking up to the sound of birds chirping, NOT the sound of our alarm clock (first time since our honeymoon). We then made an awesome breakfast. Eggs, toast, strawberries, and bacon (for Chris, not me, bleh). Then we cleaned our whole house. I LOVE when our house is spotless, it makes me so happy! After that, we headed to the park for another run! Then it was off to Mama's house, we cleaned both of our cars, inside and out! Since we were outside for more than 2 minutes, we both got a little bit of a TAN! To end the day off, Chris' friend Matt came over for dinner, we watched an episode of Prison Break, then went to bed.

Sunday:
Stake Conference. It was FREEZING in the chapel. I wanted to learn all sorts of good things so we sat on the very front row! It was great! Minus the part where a chick mentioned something about "the 9th inning stretch" at a Bee's game...it's okay, it was the thought that counted. Then we went to my parent's house, did laundry, ate dinner with the missionaries, and watched some more Prison Break.

Moral of the story:
When your "best weekend ever" consists of cooking, cleaning, and exercising...you might be getting old. Just kidding, the best part about it was being able to spend so much time with my sweet husband! It was the 1st weekend we have had all to ourselves since we've been married, so it was really special.
